It said “Wilkommen”, which is welcome in German. Maybe they were having a German film festival.

Frank Caliendo is the guy that does the John Madden impressions on the football pregame show.

Here is another exterior photo. I think this was a revival showing of Godfather 2, not the original run, as it would have played for more than two days:

I remember this theater from the early eighties. The area around Reading Terminal was pretty shabby at that time. It appears that there have been a lot of improvements since.

Here are two interesting views from the Philadelphia Architects & Buildings site. The first is an architectural rendering. Note the different spelling. The second is a 1941 photo from the Irvin Glazer collection:

This is a photo from the Philadelphia Architects & Buildings site. The quality of the photo is not the best, unfortunately. Since Frank Rizzo was running for mayor, as seen in the second floor placard, the shot may be circa early 1970s. The photo is from the Irvin Glazer theater collection:

Here is a photo, circa 1945. The film being shown is “Love Letters”, with Jennifer Jones and Joseph Cotten. The photo is from the Irvin Glazer theater collection:

“God’s House” is also at this address. A church, I assume:

I like marquees. It’s subjective.

I also noted the Dix Drive-In in Bordentown, presumably gone by now.

I think it’s just a playhouse, no movies.

This book about Bordentown states that the theater was first the Bordentonian, then the Fox and last the Sharon. I’m not sure if this link is going to hold up:

This looks like a playhouse, but then again they may be showing the Rocky Horror film, or perhaps a stage version. I can’t tell from the website.

Luis, I haven’t been in Camden for many years. I remember that tower, but I couldn’t tell you if it’s still standing. Camden has had some tough times in the past twenty five years or so.
