The AMC listing online may still say AMC Universal CityWalk 19…but there are photos in the Photos tab that clearly show this theatre’s name as Universal Cinema. A name update – with an AKA – should settle the confusion.

Now this is one FABULOUS drive-in theatre! 5 screens with enough room for an expansion to 6. A playground like the good old days. The single greatest drive-in concession stand I’ve ever seen – a full bar on one side and a full blown restaurant on the other side baking freshly made pizza and offering BBQ brisket(!!!) alongside the burgers, dogs and popcorn!

The picture is among the clearest ever seen at a drive-in. Bright bright bright – at least it is for day scenes. They could adjust the contrast a lil bit for scenes in the dark. The sound booms from your speakers with no exterior interference. And, in a REAL throwback to the good old days, they have their own preshow & intermission programming that they merge onto the feature presentation of your choice.

Absolutely awesome place! Can’t wait get back there in the coming summer months!

Regency is the patron saint of shuttered LA theatres. Would not surprise me if they picked it up.

The “winner” from California IS NOT A DRIVE-IN. It’s an inflatable screen perched on top of a downtown LA office building playing old 80’s and 90’s movies from a Blu-Ray/DVD player. The vote should have gone to an actual drive-in theatre showing first (or second) run films.

Price is just about $1 more than the Arclight that’s a few miles away…and STILL a ton cheaper than El Capitan and Chinese.

Went here on 12/27. Fabulous looking redo. Dolby Atmos is indeed equipped in all the regular auditoriums.

Answering Roger’s question: When Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened in December 2015, The Dome touted their new laser projection system…thereby putting the nail in the coffin in regards to film. They DO have a 70MM equipped auditorium in the regular ArcLight complex. But the days of film in The Dome look to be over.

So…no. They don’t care. They have followed the wave of change and new technology. I’ll be leaving LA for good in 2017 but I’m thankful that I was able to see The Dome utilized in its full and complete glory. I’ve seen 70MM, 3 strip Cinerama and the recent 120 FPS experiment that was “Billy Flynn’s Long Halftime Walk” here. I will always cherish my memories of this theatre.

Well they did run 1st run films only, not DVD’s of classic films (like the inexplicably popular Electric Dusk in Downtown LA). It was a grand experiment to recreate a classic experience. But it wasn’t meant to be.

Looks like this theatre has been renovated and officially renamed Universal Cinema. They’ve added reserved seating, recliners and all auditoriums are now running Laser Projection.

The Dome is running some spiffy 6K laser projector so it’s days of running 70MM film are all but done.

I’m a semi regular attendee. Big movies pack in the place on Saturday nights. Smaller ones, not so much. Ticket price is INSANE (over $20 – 3D OR NOT!) but I still support it.

The tours happen in between screenings. I have NEVER saw a tour happening during a film!

All those who contributed info should receive proper credit…even that which was edited years later. JAlex has been a beneficial resource for correcting inaccurate St. Louis area theatre info and should be credited.

Surely some current/former StL resident has a pic of the tall, vertical neon sign of the actual Thunderbird entrance which was located next to Goody Goody.

Spray em with a spray gun. Wouldn’t want any “residue” on my body from a joint like that!

This is a very good (and very LARGE) theatre. XD auditorium – including sound and screen – are larger than life! Regular auditoriums are equally great as well.

This is an AMAZING movie theatre. They have recently added AN ADDITIONAL XD auditorium as well as Luxury Lounger recliner seating. There’s a nice batch of large sized auditoriums in addition to the 2 XD rooms. Currently under construction in their lobby is Cinemark’s Reserve restaurant concept.

I’ll be relocating to the Plano area in 2017 and this joint will be one of my regular moviegoing stomping grounds!
