I strongly suggest taking the LAHTF walking tour of the downtown theatres as was already mentioned. It’s a wonderful opportunity that really shouldn’t be missed.
I also suggest, if you’re up for a nice walk, starting at the Chinese Theatre and heading down to the Pantages on foot. You’ll pass many open/restored/repurposed/sadly ignored theatres along the way, as well as taking a trip down the Walk of Fame. It’s a nice way to get the “feel” of Hollywood. The Kung Pao Kitty in the Pacific/Warners Theatre building is a nice place for some good eats, and the iconic Frolic Room next to the Pantages is great for a drink.
In reference to socal09’s last post, the Vine is doing some sort of laser light show exhibition now as well as the Ivar. It was featured in a television commercial recently, though my memory is reluctant to provide what was being advertised.
So happy to hear the Grandview is open again. Best of luck to Jennifer and David, who have given so much to bring this wonderful place back to a grateful community.

It’s always a shame to see any neighborhood theatre threatened, but one that is open and functioning? That takes things to a quite a different level.

The theater is offering free tours to the community this Saturday and Sunday January 16-17.
