Miss Melba,
I think those are store signs. On the northeast corner of First and Broadway a block from the Miller was the Orpheum Theatre. The Orpheum is one of a few surviving theaters in Wichita.
I am doing my Masters Thesis on the Orpheum Theatre in Wichita. I happy to hear some memories of people who worked there and/or visited there. It is currently being restored but it is going slowly. The good news is that it is still open. They air movies and have concerts there.
It is now a bar.

It is named the Nomar Theater because it is on North Market Street. It is now vacant.

Ted Morris the owner and founder of the Crown Uptown died December 30, 2008. It is truly a loss for the Wichita theater community.

The Kansas Theatre began as the Star Theater. It was renamed after a contest in 1921. Building after some remodeling is still standing but is empty.

The Crown Uptown is Wichita’s first atmospheric theater. The Orpheum Theatre on 200 N. Broadway is considered pre-atmospheric.
