The Rex Theater building is at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Franklin Street. It has apartments on the top floor and storefronts below at street level.
Downtown Bremerton is a waste. There is absolutely no parking. There would need to be at least four parking garages to make going downtown worth anything.
Besides, the area is already served by the Regal South Sound 10, AMC Silverdale 8, Regal Silverdale 4, Regal Poulsbo 10 and the independently owned 3 screen Rodeo Drive-in theater. Even the twin screen “Historic Orchard” (formerly called the Plaza Twin) arthouse theater had to close because they just couldn’t make it. The area is overscreened. There’s simply too many theaters.
The studios no longer care about small town theaters. They just want the big money that the major theater companies like regal, Cinemark, and AMC will give them.
Anyone have any updates on this building? Is it still standing?Has anyone done anything with it? Does anyone have pictures of this theater when it was operating? Interior pix would be nice, too.
Theater is built on the downward slope of a hill inside a shopping center.
I believe some sort of propane dealer is there now. All traces of the theater are gone.
The theater is hidden in the rear corner of a strip mall. Out-of-towners might have a hard time finding it.

They are doing well. Big name talent has been booked. Bill Cosby is coming in July.

Building still exists and is in excellent condition. There is a “historic building” marker on it now.
The former site of the theater is located between a gas station/convenience store and the police department.
The checkstands of the Fred Meyer store entrance “A” approximate where the screen tower once stood.

They have plenty of members who can recommend 16mm and 35mm projectors.
The mall probably wanted too much rent.
Does it get foggy there? If so, that will affect projection and may cause cancellation of showings.
Evidently it was not an asbestos fire curtain.

Looks like the boxoffice and marquee are still intact. The newspaper photos (today) do not show the projection booth/snack bar.
There are tons of photos of the fence and screen tower on fire though.
Have they determined where the fire started?
Someone should buy this theater and rebuild it!

Bad theater operators. Closing a drive-in to build an indoor theater megaplex. Boo! Hiss!
