Not really, but I am a Shakespeare fan. I was reading Julius Caesar the other day when I saw the posting for the Bardavon, so that made me wonder about the origin of the name. I would be curious to know if it is pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable or the second A.

Bob Dylan has used the Bardavon for tour rehearsals as well as rehearsals for his 2006 album Modern Times.
I was wondering about the restaurant on the right side of the postcard of 8/16/08. Has that part of the building been converted regarding the extra screens that were added?
In counterpoint, I would say that if the theater featured burlesque with short racy films screened as filler, that probably wouldn’t qualify it to be listed as a legitimate house. That’s what the films described above sound like to me. The patrons weren’t going to the place for the films, they were going there for the girls.
I can’t imagine that this is not considered a movie theater wherein some converted shoestore that showed adult films is allowed in. I have nothing against adult theaters, but this seems inequitable.
It showed movies for two years and it doesn’t qualify? Don’t we have theaters on here that opened in the beginning of the year and closed six or seven months later?
There have been discussions about adding the Belasco, but the consensus has been live theater only. I think your item above puts a hole in that argument.
Looks like Christmas 1963 was the release date for the Carol Burnett film. Quite a cast, Martin Balsam, Elizabeth Montgomery, Richard Conte, Dean Martin, Jill St. John
Interesting that there’s a DeMers Avenue in Grand Forks, ND as well. I imagine the city changes but not the street when you cross the state border from ND to MN.

Judging by the front door, I suspect it was converted to retail before it was demolished.
