According to its official website http://www.thelyon.com/ the theatre opened in December 1945, although its official grand opening wasn’t until January 25, 1946. There wss an older theatre called the Lyons Theatre that was across the street from the Lyon.
You can recognize the brick building with four 2nd story windows to the right of the theatre in both the old photo and the current map. Where the theatre was you can now see a gray building which is two stories tall in front, but angles down to only one story tall in back. It’s obvious that the theatre is gone and replaced by this smaller building.
Glenwood Movieplex Corporation, run by one of the former partners and founders of Cinema North, has taken over this cinema. They also run the Glenwood Movieplex and the Hudson Movieplex, both in New York state.
The cinema, closed since October when Cinema North went out of business, reopened today as the North Adams Garden Movie Plex 8. Their website is http://www.northadams8.com
By the way, this theatre was never known as the North Adams Cinema 6. That was a different building elsewhere in town.
This theatre is already listed as #18992, so this one should be removed.
The pipe burst after the theatre had already shut down.
Now called the ReelHouse Cinema and Draft, this theatre is undergoing renovations and will reopen soon.

I think this should be in King, North Carolina not King, New York.
Current total seating capacity is 1,381 for the five screens per their website at http://www.alpinecinemas.com/ .

I wouldn’t consider this a cinema just because they played one film there.

This theatre has been “temporarily closed” for the last three months due to an early morning fire in downtown Scranton on August 19.
