They were doing work on this building today, so I took a look. I assume this new building replaced the theater building, which was demolished. I don’t think there was any reuse of the old building.

Some additional information here. I don’t know why there’s a discepancy in the two addresses, though.

This 1944 map shows the Pico and Bundy area before much of it was obliterated for the Santa Monica Freeway:

My first Paul Newman film was Towering Inferno. I saw it at the Towne 4 in Egg Harbor NJ in 1974. Newman was the architect and Steve McQueen was the fire chief. Other eclectic casting was Fred Astaire as a con man and OJ Simpson as a security guard who rescues a kitten.

I recommend “Nobody’s Fool” (1994), which is said to be the closest Newman ever came to playing himself in a film.

Look at page seven of this Canadian newspaper from 1922. The twins and Jack Thomas are bottom billed:

There are two photos on this site. The theater has been razed since this was written:

The small photo on the bottom of the page shows one of the screens and a sign, which is what you would see on the right side of the street driving south on Vermont.

It was sad to see maybe a half dozen cars parked before the first show. Every time I saw that, I figured the Vermont was not long for this world. I would liked to have seen it in its heyday.

This ad shows a Pussycat Theater at 930 National City Boulevard in March 1975. I assume this is a different theater, although just the one house is listed in National City so far:
