Really, Nick and Charlie {his retired Projectionist friend} they took me and my sons on a day long tour of old theatres.My two daughters swam with Charlie’s family while we went on the adventure of TAMPA,It was great.
I really want to get to the Augusta Archives and list ALL the movies that played at COLUMBIA 1 and 2 while i worked there. Also at the first year of National Hills then ramdom movies that played there while I was there.I gotta get some money cause it ain’t a free service. I bet you guys have one too,Ever think about doing that on some of your old theatres? I see guys doing it all the time with theatres some list every MOVIE for decades!!
Large title for the marquee,but I got it all on, “THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMS SMARTER BROTHER” opens in COLUMBIA 1 on 11-24-76.Thanks Gene for the title.
SO much to read might have missed it.But I noticed “COONSKIN” played there.It was highly racist satire that I thought was pulled very quickly from release.Either X or R cartoon.
Raysson,why would you even put yourself in that position. I worked plenty of Black films in the 70’s at the IMPERIAL in Augusta,and other than them talking back to the screen,which we gave up trying to keep people quite on a “SHAFT” film. We never had a fight and we did not need to hire a cop like so many theatres are doing mainly because of all the blasted screens.Glad i got out in 83.
TLsloews, this guy,Ray Hutto BUILT his own twin theatre and showed 35mm.Even GCC was impressed we went out to see his theatres.He even played a 007 trailer for us O.H.M.S.S. .

opened with two good movies,Fonda and Stewart and Gregory Peck in the other.I know everyone knows who was in what film.

YOu never saw “COONSKIN” did you. I remember reading in BOXOFFICE about the movie being pulled, No “Entertainment tonite” in them days.

All the Paramount stuff came over here including the DUKE’S last movie,“THE SHOOTIST” 12-08-76 rated PG. I was able to grab the one sheet.
SOUTHGATE gets a classy picture “CABARET” opens 02-14-73. Rated PG. Plays awhile there.
The kind of movie that does okay at DANIEL VILLAGE “THE HEARTBREAK KID” opens 03-07-73 rated PG.
A great western, “THE MAN THAT LOVED CAT DANCING” rated pg opens 07-04-73,{I saw it there}.
“THE GANG THAT COULDN"T SHOOT STRAIGHT” rated PG plays 12-22-74.
12-24-69 “BOB&CAROL&TED & ALICE” opens at the Imperial rated R.
07-21-71 “ANDERSON TAPES” opens with Sean Connery as a bad guy.
01-30-74 sees the violent and not a comedy “LAUGHING POLICEMAN” open at the Imperial.{i saw it there. Bruce Dren was great in it.}
12-24-75 “LUCKY LADY” opens at the Miller with the big cast it dies quick.
