The Full Moon Drive-In http://www.fullmoondrivein.com/ is the new one in San Diego. It opens tonight. It shows a different classic movie every Friday and Saturday evening.
You see one of these articles about the “revival” of drive-ins every few years. The premise of this one seems to be faulty, though. Right in this article it states that there are 364 drive-ins across the USA today, down from 406 drive-ins in 2007.
Well, that means 10% of the drive-ins that existed just five years ago have now closed down. That’s not a revival – that’s a bloodbath.
The Cecilwood Theatre was on Main Street in Fishkill, New York (not Newburgh). They were a summer stock playhouse and I have not found evidence that they showed movies.
That is not this Westville Theatre, which is demolished. The previous Westville Theatre was also known as the West Rock Theatre and was just down the road at 827 Whalley Avenue. See my photos of it at http://www.cinematour.com/tour/us/35275.html
CineSister: you sure about that? The blog at http://goodmorninggloucester.wordpress.com/2011/10/29/did-you-know-little-art-cinema-vasa/ implies that he attended a movie there recently.
Is this building really the Congress Theatre or is it some other unknown theatre? The address I have for the Congress was 328 Broadway, but the building above clearly shows an address of 260 Broadway.
This is not demolished. It was located at 1123-1125 Main St and is now home to Hanna’s Oriental Rugs & Gift and another shop called Christmas. The theatre was divided down the middle to form the two retail spaces.
You can find a good article with a photo of the building at http://archives.mountaintimes.com/mtweekly/2006/0928/moving_picture.php3

Strand is closed too. It appears to have closed this year from comments on TripAdvisor.

I do not think Airdrome is an obvious typo or, in fact, a typo at all. Airdrome was a common name for early outdoor theatres.
I went by it today to take photos and it seems this one has been sitting there vacant for 25 years now!
Correct address is 2585 South Rd.
Status still needs to be changed as this has been closed for six years now.
This is now known as the Mountain Cinema.
Website is http://www.catskillmtn.org

The cinema is now being renovated and will reopen this May as Creative Cinemas.

I have a Booker T Theatre listed in Annapolis as well. Does anyone know anything about that one?
This has been renamed the Romance Theatre.

I’m not sure the Union and the Wellfleet are the same. they are both listed in the 1944 FDY, although the Union is designated as closed.
The Prospect is listed as a portable theatre in the 1944 FDY.

Phone number is disconnected. It looks like it has closed.
Is this really demolished? It seems on Bing Maps that there is a theatre at that location.
Located at approximately 372 Holdredge Avenue, the drive-in is now parking for the Big Horn County Fairgrounds.
This theatre reopened as the Seneca Queen Theatre with live productions in 2009, but closed down again in 2010.

This closed in July 2010 and is now a church.
This is now called Whaler’s Wharf Cinema. http://www.whalerswharfcinema.com/
