Yes looking at the picture it is very evident.. the rear extention.. looking at the side wall you can see the encased re-inforcements to hold up the balcony. In the foyer you could see the archway of the chapel doorway.
This was very common… You where lucky to get the print 30min before showing…. and Full of V cuts and dogy joins.. and Prayers had to be said at the side of the projectors so it would go through…
In Birmingham there where 8 such cinemas that used this system of Projection. We at the Capitol Birmingham re did the Projection Box in 1929 placing it onto the roof..
Slight Correction: “Anglo Scottish Cinema and Variety Theatres Ltd”., Was the original ABC Company around 1928-29 Anglo@s Parent compant British International Pictures Changed its name to “Associated British Picture Corporation” which then changed the cinema Co to “Associated British Cinemas” A New Share Issue was done at the same time. It was All founded by a John Maxwell a Scots solicitor by trade.. nothing to do with Daily Mirror Maxwell. I did have the original Prospectus, but it was put in a safe place.. by mother :o(
Weatherspoons usually knocks the back wall out. alas.. But as long as they do not demolish the rest of the building. There is some chance in the future to turn it into a Live theatre.. As The Walsall area lacks anywhere decent to perform in..
