I had asked this question once before but don’t think anyone answered. What other Hempstead Theatre was advertised for awhile as Calderone #2? The original theatre was never plexed until the 90’s?

And in New York we have to see these films in 35mm in a shoebox, go figure.

RobertR commented about Cinema Studio 1 & 2 on Sep 27, 2006 at 12:49 am

In 1971 with the studio on the verge of bankruptcy and its new releases tanking MGM rushed out its all time diamond for Christmas 1971. The only Manhattan screen they could get the first week was Cinema Studio, although in week 2 they picked up Guild 50th, UA East, UA Riviera and New Alpine. It took till week 3 for them to realize that this ad was from the 1968 70mm engagement and that all of these prints were 35mm Metrocolor.

Check out this block ad for Sunrise & Whitestone Drive-Ins. They were not open all winter like they were later on when they advertised electric heaters. Plus they bragged about letting the car in for free

“The Moon is Blue” was famous because it was one of the first major films to go out without the MPAA Seal.

The Reade Organization released “Slaves” the god awful film debut of Dionne Warwick. In December 1969 Continental Releasing paired it with Night of the Living Dead and it opened on the RKO track across town. Notice it’s not playing any Walter Reade Theatres :)
