I was too scared to go into these movie theaters because I thought there might be a shoot out. I was diagnosed with anxiety so it was all in my head. I could’ve gone in with a camera and taken interior shots that would be very special now.
According to a post from Theatre Architecture on Facebook, the theatre will be demolished.
“It is with great sadness that I announce the impending demolition of the Coyle theater in Charleroi Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh due to a lack of vision by city officials. This is the last theater in the Mon- Valley soon to be gone forever"😥
The building that house the Marcy is no more, it’s been demolished. I had planned to take some pics from the Jamaica-bound J platform but I didn’t get the chance.

The newcomers to these neighborhoods ‘destroyed’ the civilized fabric of these communities.

Would have been cool if they named it Regal Delancey.
Might there be any remnants of the old theatre. Or perhaps it was completely gutted.
I passed by today and saw that the former theatre is available for lease. The furniture store is no longer there.
Is this the theatre by the Pelham Bay 2/5 train? I was on the BX12 bus today and I saw a movie theatre a feet away from the elevated station.
Was it a grand theatre inside? I remember passing by as a kid with my grandmother after church and the lobby was small. This was in the early 1970’s.
