No. No. No. The Harper Theatre at 5238 S. Harper was NEVER twinned in 1970. It was renamed Hyde Park 2. The original Hyde Park Theatre at 53rd & Lake Park was renamed Hyde Park 1. Two separate Hyde Park theatres at two different locations. After Hyde Park 1 closed its doors permanently, Hyde Park 2 became simply the Hyde Park Theatre and stayed that way until it reopened in 2013 and became the Harper again.
From the 2424 N. Lincoln Wikipedia page: “The building first opened as the Fullerton Theatre, a nickelodeon, in 1912. In 1915 it was converted into an auto garage. FBI agents took aim at John Dillinger from the roof of the building in 1934.[1]
I checked the newspaper movie section for July 22, 1934. The Fullerton Theatre is not listed. That’s because the building at 2424 N. Lincoln was an auto garage at the time. Here is a video clip in which this man mentions the address of the former movie theatre at 2424 N. Lincoln Avenue (that would later be reborn as a movie theatre; first called the Crest and then 3-Penny Cinema).
The Marquette Theatre was actually on 63rd Street; however, the building did wrap around on Kedzie Avenue. We all said the Marquette Theatre was at 63rd & Kedzie.
The Will Rogers was demolished in 1990 after being closed for four years. I added a photo that was taken in either 1989 or 1990. Notice the Daley for Mayor bench.

THE EXORCIST didn’t open at the State-Lake on December 26, 1973. It started showing at the State-Lake in February, 1974. The big 1973 Christmas attraction at the State-Lake was PAPILLON.

The State Lake Theatre showed its last movie on Thursday, June 28, 1984.

Nope. It’s the stage production. FIDDLER ON THE ROOF movie (1971) never played at the McVickers Theatre. It played at the McClurg Court Theatre.
The Riviera closed as a movie theatre in 1983.

Cineplex-Odeon came to the Chicago market in the Fall of 1985.

This theatre now has THREE auditoriums.
The Clermont is currently being demolished. The front facade is still standing but I don’t know if it will survive the wrecker’s ball.
