Apparently the screen has also been upgraded for optimal brightness. Now if only they could fix the cross reflections and geometry distortions I would consider watching a movie in there again.
Apparently Avatar will be showing in 3-D in the Dome. I’m not sure how this could be close to being satisfactory as even regular 2-D projection is dim.
Anyone else notice a kind of machine noise coming from the left side exit in the Dome? I assume it’s from the concession stand or some other place in the lobby. Even with the curtain drawn it’s pretty distracting.
Love going to this little theater but is there any chance of money being put into the presentation? The small offcenter screen is pretty awkward. It’s fixed width, correct? The sides can’t be expanded for scope films?
As long as Grauman’s shows some movies worth going to I’m happy. Has their presentation quality gone downhill though? The sound has been iffy in the past like with the Village in Westwood. They really need to crank it.

I think the Dome has the same NEC 2k projector as Grauman’s and the Village. IMO, it doesn’t look nearly as good though because of the lack of light on the screen and distorted geometry.
Unless it’s a mistake Terminator Salvation will also be playing at Grauman’s. Strange. I don’t like having to choose between them since Arclight now has the same digital projection.

I think it’s too early to tell. Is current state of the art 3-D bright enough for a screen as big as Grauman’s?
Blu-ray players are not that expensive nowadays.
Unless it’s a special print I think one would be better off buying the Blu-ray. It’s fantastic.

Motion interpolation? Eh, no thanks. I rather have 24fps 70mm scanned at 4k/6k then projected in 4k or higher DLP.
75x38 is about 1.98:1. Hmm.
If it is all common width screens then that is a deal breaker. Why do these theater chains always cheap out on the most important thing?
Are those speakers under the screen instead of directly behind? Big fail there.

Sounds like a way to view 3-D, not piracy.
I hope they’re showing it on their 2k DLP rather than projecting a blurry washed out print like the one I saw in theater #3. Why wasn’t it digital?
