i didn’t liked it… i thought the screen at Empire was bigger than the imax screen at garden state… and plus the picture wasn’t bright enuff either.. sound was kicking…
the imax shows aren’t sold out…they have been locked.. found out through the theatre that last night city inspector shut down the imax system due to not having legal permit.. something like that….. crzy huh.. they don’t know when imax will be going back online.
they now have 3 3D screens with one Sony 4k….Rockaway and garden state are going live with their IMAX on the same day…. I asked one of the managers and their live date is November 19.
reald only plays through one projector.. whereas digital imax requires two projectors combined.. creating one image.. That’s the only difference between reald and digi-imax
amc is not going to shut down the theatre and replace all 35mm projectors with sony 4k. I think what amc is doing is replacing one screen at a time with 4k. Shutting down would be a big loss. Every month they will keep pushing one sony 4k replacing with the 35mm throughout next year. In this way all 35mm projectors will be replaced with sony 4k throughout the whole circuit at the end of 2012. Thats what their plan is for now. So yeah, expect one projector installed every month or two.
