Best of luck to Sally. The State Theatre is lucky to have someone as dedicated as her to keep the theatre going. She did a beautiful job with the twinning of the cinema.

I would be surprised if this theater was actually demolished. It is the third floor of the mall and the mall is still standing. You can still access the third floor public restrooms and see the entrance to the lobby.

I don’t know but I attended movies there in 1997-2000 and it was a triplex that entire time.

From the Montgomery News:

After opening its doors in 1928, the Keswick Theatre has become a favorite historical landmark in Glenside. To help make sure the theater is part of the community for years to come, it is undergoing renovations, which began June 25.

I’m not sure when this theater closed but it did receive a new marquee in 1969.

Just saw Peace, Love and Misunderstanding at the Spectrum. As part of the slide show they present before the show they show a slide stating that the theater is now self powering with 216 solar panels installed on the roof.

Any word on any progress at this theater? I see that it was sold last summer but I can’t find any information about any renovations or plans to reopen.

I remember seeing Santana her in the 1980’s. I also saw Taj Mahal, who is from Springfieldat the Paramount.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Barbra Streisand did not usher here, although she did atthen the theater as a patron. From her website:

The Loew’s Kings Theater in Brooklyn APRIL 6, 2011, 3:54 am I was happy to hear recently that the Loew’s Kings Theater in Brooklyn, New York will be undergoing renovations for a reopening in 2014 . It was one of those beautiful old movie palaces of the past. I was 13 years old when I first started spending many a wonderful afternoon there, partly because it had double features, air conditioning and great ice cream cones.

I’d like to set the record straight on one point. Some articles have said that I was an usher there. That wasn’t the case … I was just a kid, a paying customer, a movie lover. Just for the record, a few years later, I did usher in Manhattan’s theater district, which was wonderful, because I got to see the plays for free. . http://www.barbrastreisand.com/us/truth-alert/loews-kings-theater-brooklyn

Visited this theater last night. They have moved the screen back about 22 feet from where it was. It seems that at some point the theater was made smaller and a laundromat was added in the back section. They have not yet added additional seating but it will be added soon. I hope they redo all the first floor seating and make it the same as the seats on the balcony, which are very comfortable.

Although it is primarily a live performance venue, the Flying Monkey does still feature the occasional movie. There is a full service dining menu available during performances.

It no longer has 2 screens, it is a single performance space.

gd14lawn commented about Crandell Theatre on Sep 12, 2011 at 2:03 am

I made my first visit to the Crandell last night. The staff were very friendly and the theatre was a treat. It is in fairly good condition and the non-profit which is running it seems excited to improve it.

The screen appears new and the projection was sharp. The seats on the main floor have been replaced as some point and the balcony seats are original. The balcony was closed when I was there.

I’m terrible with names but I spoke to the person in the box office (Stan, I think) who was kind enough to show me the balcony and the projection booth.
