So I emailed Imax CQO yesterday and got an amazing response! I was assured the problems with fantastic beasts will be fixed for Rogue one!!! How awesome is that?!?! Great to see good people running the show!

Tickets went fast! Fandango was useless last night when tickets went on sale. They had every show listed as “Sold Out.” Luckily I tried the AMC website and got tickets. They aren’t in our favorite place (Row D/E seats 20-24) but close enough. I’m super excited to see Rogue One in the newly renovated theater. I do hope they iron out the bugs that were mentioned by Movie_Time.
xbs2034 – I’ve seen a 3D presentation in 70MM Imax years ago and it was amazing 3D for sure! I’m hoping the 3D with the new laser system is awesome!
Movie_Time – Can you comment on the new seating? Is there a big difference? I’m a big guy and as much as I love the experience of the Lincoln Square Imax, the comfort level of the seats had much to be desired.
I would love it if they got recliners too. Idk why they havent. Whenever I’ve gone to the Imax 8ts usually 90% empty. It only makes sense to get high quality theaters. It looks like I will be sticking with Lincoln Square.
I’ve read that laser equals the resolution of 70mm. IDK. That’s not my thing. If you look at every IMAX that has gone to laser, none have gone back to 70mm.
I think that now that the laser is in, the 70mm is gone forever. For me, 70mm is great but I do enjoy 3D. laser is the best of both worlds with great resolution and 3D. Unfortunately who knows when the projection screen will be properly calibrated and functioning at an optimum level. I think they rushed the opening big time! How do you open without the construction being completed, and with the projector, screen, and audio not properly calibrated?!?! If it’s not done for Rogue one, the Lincoln Square Imax renovation is an epic fail in my book. Also, keep in mind this renovation was originally slated to be done for this time last year!!!
I’m a big fan of the Kids Bay Imax theater but I usually go to Lincoln Square because of the reserved seats and now the laser projector. Is there any update on the kips Bay Imax having reserved seats and/or upgrading to laser? If so, I’d probably go back.
@XapNoiro It’s not the Times square theater. It’s an Imax in VA that has laser installed. I will be super happy if and when it is confirmed that the Lincoln Square Imax will be playing Rogue One in 3D!!! I do hope it is confirmed that everything was installed properly.
Hmm. I’ve been looking around. I notice the airbus Imax in VA has 4K laser projectors installed. In the up coming showings of Fantastic Beasts, almost all are NOT listed as 3D. Strangely starting Monday, 1 showing a day is listed as 3D. The rest don’t mention 4D. WTF!!!

Ugh!!!! Every time I get psyched, another let down!!! I do hope that this is just for FB. It’s a good sign that FB is available only in 2D in the chinease theater too. I’m so excited to see Rogue One in laser 3D!!! I hope to have tickets in hand for opening night.
On a separate note I’m surprised they cut the total number of seats by such a small number. I guess the extra comfort will be subtle. Still it will be an improvement I guess.

Anyone know if Rogue One will be played on Dec 16th? I will make the trip all the way from NYC if it’s playing here. The Lincoln Square Imax doesn’t look like it will be ready on time. I want to see this in laser.
Yes My thoughts exactly. Ugh!!! Tickets for Rogue one reportedly are on sale on Tuesday 11/7 and there’s no way Lincoln Square will have Imax tickets. I’m so disgusted! :(
Supposedly all AMC theaters are upgrading their seating in the NYC area. If there not recliners I think they will at least have roomier and more comfortable seats than what was there before, but thats not saying much. I’m used to my legs falling asleep from being cramped in such a small space for 2 ½ hours.
Thanks for the info plagasX! That’s extremely exciting! I go to all Imax movies at the LS Imax and all non Imax movies at the AMC Dine In in NJ. This will be like the best of both worlds! Please let is know if the LS Imax will be open for Rogue One on Dec 16!!! Rumor is that tickets go on Sale Nov 7 at 7AM. I’m hoping to snag tickets! It will be amazing to see Rogue one opening night in the newly rennovated LS Imax!!!
I’m shocked that tickets are still not up for auction. Looks like Lincoln Square isn’t playing the opening weekend of Dr. Strange in Imax. That’s not a good sign for Rogue one. :(

That is very promising but as of yet, there are no tickets available for Imax. I hope it changes soon.
