Tony De Carlo managed the Rio Theatre for many years. He ran a tight ship and a very clean theatre. When the Rio Theatre closed Tony moved to the much larger and minature movie palace, the Granada Theatre in the Bevo area of South St. Louis. He stayed there until the Arthur Theatres went out of business and then went to work for Mid America Theatres. He managed the Manchester Twin and finally the Brentwood Theatre.
Evidently the Name Roxy was short lived, by 1951 it is listed as the Barnsdall Theatre with 600 seats. So Roxy should be an AKA. The Theatre was located at the corner of W. Main at 5th Street.
Joe Vogel, are you saying this theatre should be listed as the Roxy Theatre since that was the last operating name, with Bamsdall Theatre and Runyon Theatre as AKA’s?
A strange thing in this picture, my friend Stephen has one of his fathers pictures of a Meadow Gold Ice Cream truck in font of the Granada Theatre in St. Louis. Meadow Gold must have been a Midwest Dairy.
The drive-in was to the south of Lambert International Airport. I don’t think the drive-in property was bought by the airport. Interstate 70 is between Natural Bridge Road and the airport.

In the middle ad in the photo section it lists the address at 195 Brinkby Ave.

The Motion picture Yearbook of 1928 lists the Overton Theatre as open with 75 seats.
Where did the information come from that AMC was taking over Carmike? The Carmike website lists the address as 238 Sikes Center Mall.
