If my memory is correct, the Encore was located in a strip mall on Montauk Highway in Bay Shore. It was locally owned and operated and only occupied the space of one storefront. I would estimate the theatre had about 150 seats at most. I remember seeing Jaws and Meatballs there in the late 70s.
For years, the Brentwood Theatre was operated by United Artists. It was operated mostly as a 99 cent house, with the occasional foray into first-run movies(I remember seeing Tron there on opening weekend). It was most successful as a discount house.
Don’t know the year, but this originally opened as the Loews Nassau Quad.
