VERY disappointed that there are not more comments here . I mean on Rocky Horror ALONE . I just posted an ad for a (softcore?) adult booking here in the photos section . C'mon all you rocky horror people from 1978-1980 ! Where ARE you ????
1976…and showing movies from 1969 and 1974 ! “House of Exorcism” was always on WOR channel 9 Fright Night as “Lisa and the Devil” – lousy movie even if you’re into schlock (which I am!) .
Could this be from 1974 and the movie on the marquee is “Beyond the Door” which was rated “R” ? There is also an obscure Charles Bronson movie called “Someone Behind the Door” but I am not sure it was rated “R”. Of course “Behind the GREEN Door” was rated “X” - so it’s not that. LOL.
1984 / 1985 ? Above the RED CAR is the Commack Drive In screen! I had forgotten how visible it was to the outskirts .
Ticket stubs from 1981. 4 more years and ..gone. 1985. Last movie shown : Dario Argento’s Creepers.
1981 Re-release at the Commack Drive In. I was there ! I still have the speaker we ripped out when we left !

It says “Adults Only” and no “X” or “R” . I’m guessing it was some kind of soft core nonsense. IMAGINE if the YORK turned into an “X” house?! LOL.
As kids , before the movie started - topic of conversation was “What would happen if those masks fell off the wall and hit people over the head?” LOL.
Another local theatre that you’d think there would be 100 comments and recollections on here……
And have dinner next door at Cooky’s Steak Pub ! Cooky’s closed in the mid 1980s.
1965- sleaze classic !
1965- Sleaze classic “Who Killed Teddy Bear?”
More JUNK bookings for Whitman ! 1979-1980 era.
1978-1980 when Whitman was a BLIND BID theater and took nothing but JUNK. During these few years - I had NO IDEA how they stayed open.
The co-feature was “War of the Gargantuas” !
I am amazed when local theaters such as this- that were around for decades - only get 4 comments!
I saw this double bill at the Larkfield in East Northport !
1972
Wow ! Happier times and Vampire Lovers too !

I like the porno incarnation myself. I’m also drawn to the word “psychedelic” too !
Holy moly! The theater NEXT DOOR is showing EQUINOX !!
Balcony Theatre : 1980 : Rock N' Roll High School at Midnights !
1973
“Movie Madness” booth ! I collect buttons and shirts from old movies ! This would be a dream come true !!
