Per Village’s website, and the ads in the Sun-Times, it’s open.

The North Riverside is showing
Click (PG-13)
Waist Deep ®
Nacho Libre (PG)
Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift (PG-13)
Cars (G)
The Omen ®

No Superman or Pirates of the Caribbean?
And next week nothing new is booked and showtimes are Friday July 14th – Sunday 16th.
I don’t know why they have not gotten newer movies.
Maybe time to alreay close?

I think Village Theater’s is doing a great investment for The North Riverside Theater (stadium seating, better sound, etc.) focusing on more family films (G, and PG rated movies and less PG-13 and R-Rated movies). Loews had booked more PG-13 and R-Rated movies and less G and PG-Rated movies. The theater needs better seating too, and next year 6 more screens! Can’t wait! The theater that once killed the Harlem-Cermak is finally getting a facelift.

I guess that’s why they closed Golf Glen. You have to get your equipment somewhere, and where better than the theater that’s going to be driven out by Kerasotes shortly.

Which probably means that Village will take over on 1-27-06.

Village Theatres are taking over the North Riverside. The theatre is currently open and running films. There will be no shutdown during the transition.

I think there’s a possibility that Village Theaters will take over. I think they closed it due the the Loews-AMC takeover. Did not know that a 14-screen theater will open on Cermak & Cicero, I know that Kerasotes is opening a 12-screeen theater at the Golf Mill.

Sadly after 16 years this theater that one killed the Harlem-Cermak closed down saw some movies in the 90’s and a few in the 2000’s. My last two movies I saw there were “Derailed” and “King Kong”.

Loews closed North Riverside today after almost 16 years of operation. I wonder if Village Theatres will take over? Probably not because, Kerasotes is opening a 14 screen showplace theatre this spring just 3 miles away at the Hawthorne Works Center on Cermak & Cicero.

My recent visits to see “Derailed” and “King Kong” were much better now than my last visit in 2002 to see “I Am Sam”. The theater is much cleaner now. Even though I had a bad experience in 1998 with “Hav Plenty”, I will surely return to this theater soon. Hopefully Loews/Cineplex (soon to be AMC) keeps this theater open along with the Norridge, since the Hillside Square, Hillside Mall and the Oak Brook closed.

The first movie I saw at the North Riverside was “Flight Of The Intruder” in 1991. In 1993, when they played “Jurrassic Park” it was on of the first theaters to have DTS (Digital Theater Sound). In 1998, when I tried to see “Hav Plenty”, I wanted to go to the 5:50 show and the girl at the box office told me there was not a 5:50 show (no sign or anything, check newspaper, no sign saying that it was sold out as the reason why she couldn’t sell any tickets for that showing), so ended up seeing it in a different theater. The last 2 times I went was “The Gift” in 2001, and “I Am Sam” in 2002.
