This theatre’s status needs to be changed. The status should be “Open”. The chain should be Jenco.
Reopened June 2nd by Jenco, the people who run the nearby Lansing 8. I went here to see Waist Deep, and nothing’s changed except it’s cleaner(at least in the theater I was in). Which is something because when Loews/Cineplex ran it, it was clean too.
REOPENS JUNE 2ND! I saw the ad on the Cineplex Odeon marquee located by RO 9-10. I can’t wait to see the changes Jenco made.
Oh, thanks for the advice Paul. I’ll get started on a business proposal soon. I will never be like Meridian and Village. I’ll make sure I have a solid business plan. My idea is to buy properties thats doing well, but most people don’t want. AMC Pipers Alley for example.Tthen in a few years, I’ll start buliding new theaters.
I’m aware that Kerasotes is coing to Chicago and outlying areas. I guess I’ll have to get started very soon.(Which is what I want anyway)

I forgot to say this. See if you could talk to someone in the Classic Cinemas chain. Find out what makes this chain so successful (Gee, clean theatres, lower prices than AMC/Loews, smart management, but still, you should talk to them).
Don’t forget that Keresotas is starting to make inroads into the Chicagoland market!

I thought of some theatres you could acquire for your cinema chain.
The entire Village Chain, the Patio, the Piper’s Alley, the Foxfield (if it is still standing and could be re-used as a cinema), the Arcada. These are just to name a few.
I would not recommend re-opening the McClurg Court. You would be up against the River East 21, the Esquire, and the 600 North.
Make sure you know what you’re getting into. Do you, or will you have a solid business plan? How about good investors? Or do you want to be a private or family owned company? Don’t make the same mistakes that Village Entertainment has. Remember Meridian Theatres? (I.e. Make sure you can pay your taxes). Meridian lasted, what, about two years? That HAD to be Chicago’s shortest-lived theatre chain!

I don’t know about 7-8. The Lansing Cinema 8 website just says River Oaks 6. Looks like 7-8 may become retail or something.
To CinemarkFan – Cinema City sounds good.
At least River Oaks 1-6 will be reopening (by the people at Jenco). River Oaks 9 and 10 is going to the wreking ball, how about 7 and 8?
Humm, Cinema City sounds pretty good. Hopefully I can get started with this chain soon.
So then Village isn’t getting this one, despite all the talk. Cinemark Fan, once Village goes out of business, you should call your proposed chain Villager Theaters! But I’m sure there’d be a copyright infringement in there somewhere!

YES! It’s being reopened by Village Theatres. I don’t know if 7-8 and 9-10 is with it.
Some movies I saw it RO 7-8: Most Wanted, The Art of War, The Score, What Lies Beneath. Some more movies I saw at 1-6: Primal Fear, L.A. Confidential, Tomorrow Never Dies, The Thin Red Line, American Pie, Spy Kids, Swordfish, Kiss of the Dragon, From Hell, and of course, The Forgotten was my last movie at 1-6. 1988-2006, RIP.
Some of the movies I saw in the 1-6 building include “Home Alone”, “A League of Their Own”, “Sense and Sensibility”, “My Cousin Vinny”, “Henry and June” and “City Slickers 2”.
Ok, I’m 15 so the first movie I saw here was The Shadow in 1994. My two older brothers saw Rapid Fire here in 1992. The last film I saw here was The Forgotten in 2004. It’s a shame it’s closed, somebody like Classic Cinemas could’ve picked it up. Recently, I’ve heard rumors that a new megaplex was supposed to be built in the mall.
