Excellent presentation of “Ten Commandments”. Great print. The 4 hours flew by for me.
Just curious: what year was the print from as it was presented in 2:35 aspect ratio, and not the Vista 1:85. The tops and bottoms were definitely cropped as evident from the opening titles and closing title where the framing moved to include the whole caption. My only critique for the print was the sound in the later parts, where it was mono and the music and sound effects where dim. This movie should get a spruced up restoration for film with 6-track stereo.
Overall, it was great seeing it on the big screen again and the opening presentation with the curtains was flawless. Another great Lafayette show!!

I just got back from your screening of “Me and Orson Welles” and it’s true what Nelson said , quite possibly the best film I’ve seen this year. This film really needs a wider distribution deal. It should be seen by anyone who has a love for excellent script-writing, direction, art direction (great evocation of 1930’s New York City even though I believe it was mostly shot in England) the New York stage,film history and, above all…acting. (Zack Effron should not be discounted here, he was quite well cast)
So thanks, Lafayette for giving me the chance to catch up with this film. I can’t wait for the DVD in July.

Just got back from this morning’s presentation of “Dr. No” What a beautiful print…. superior in every way to what is currently available on DVD. (although I haven’t seen the Blu-Ray)
The Lafayette is THE premier showcase in our area for the classics as well as currently-running films. (Can’t wait to experience your new 3D projection system)
But, I knew I should have worn my tux, today.
Way to go Peter and Nelson. You hit one right out of the park with this one, this morning!!

Hope we see some of the CT regulars come to the Lafayette tomorrow morning for the Big Screen Classics spring season opening attraction – DOCTOR NO. I inspected the print last night and it looks to be in great shape and – surprise – has the re-mastered stereo soundtrack.
I’ve seen the 3D system, and the picture was great. Why go to a black box at the crowded mall when you can come to a movie palace with STYLE and comfort, and get the same thing, for a few bucks less too!
The digital 3-D system debuted this weekend and looks as good as it can – excellent brightness & uniformity. With nearly 1000 seats – and about 600 prime seating locations for 3-D – the Lafayette is a great place to showcase. We hope you can come out and experience it soon.
Now all you need is 70mm projection and a 70mm classic film festival to put the Ziegfeld to shame! That would be worth a visit for me. ^5

I have been looking forward to this since 3D was announced last fall!
I called up the local Rockland AM station WRCR and talked to the hosts of the morning show about the addition of 3D!
Real 3D in a REAL MOVIE PALACE!
In fact The Lafayette is the ONLY Movie Palace, operating since 1924 in THE ENTIRE Tri-State area, that now has 3D Technology!
It will be a AMAZING experience to see a motion picture in 3D on a silver screen, in such a historic venue!
You can always depend on Pete and the Lafayette to include a Hitchcock classic in their schedule. I think there’s been a Hitchcock in every edition of Big Screen Classics since they started.
The Lafayette’s new digital projection system premieres on Friday 3/5 with Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”, presented in Real-D 3-D. Hope some of you come out for the historic event this weekend!

“The Ten Commandments” – wow! That will break all running time records for Big Screen Classics, right? Will that have a special early start time?
We’re still getting the final dates on the rest of the spring titles, but here are some of the confirmed films we are running this spring: DR.
