From the pictures it looks like they redid the old Loews vertical for the civic or at least used the same design, in the new sign. Also the same for the marquee.
The Bealle Meade in Nashville,Tennessee has been a book store for many years now.The marquee and signboards are still there and they advertise books and stuff, and most of the theatre is still intact.
AS in Warrens comment of 6/29/07. We had the LOEWS VENDOME in Nashville, Tennessee. But almost everyone just called it the LOEWS.Also the 1945 picture is nice but I did not see the theatre in it,maybe my eyes are going.
By the way Patsy the Tennessee Theatre did not have country decor,it had Tennessee History decor.Nashville is a city, just close to the country. We have got the best of both worlds.Capitol city and cows within 20 miles of each other.
By the way Mike I think that I would be the Perfect Manager of a Movie and Tavern since I have done both but not at the same time. I would not have to sneak my beer or drinks in and put it in the ice machine,as I have done in the past.Keep the stories coming.
All our daily reports and everything else were hand written. We had to type our weekly reports on a “OLD” manual typewriter, and send all the dailys, bank receipts, ect, to New York every Friday. When we paid our vendors,we would write the checks in Nashville and mail them to New York to be signed. and they would mail them back to the vendors. We did not even know what a computer was then.Old school bookkeeping stuff I guess.Good time though! Also I used to get to park in the parking garage behind the Loews Crescent for movie passes as it was downtown and we did not have our own parking.
Mike we had the ugly red jackets but we did not have any patches. We had our LOEWS name tags and our black bow ties. We had had to have our own black pants and white shirts. We looked cool though! Also we did not have to have them cleaned ourselves, but Loews had them cleaned at lease twice a year even if they did not need it or not.Ha Ha big spenders!
Nice looking building, I am glad that it is still there.
Pizza and movies what a concept.
Nice shots
Cool keep them coming.
In the subway photos of the Loews Hillside you can see the World Trade center Towers in the background.
