I definitely agree with “Ben-Hur” and “How The West Was Won”.
One personal favorite I want to see is “The Best Years of Our Lives”.
I know that, but, hey…..what would be the harm in suggesting that they play West Side Story again?
West Side Story was there two years ago.

Looking forward to the Spring Season next month.
Perhaps some Bond, Harryhausen, a musical or two ?

Thanks to everyone who came out to a Big Screen Classics show this season, it was one of our best yet and concluded with a sold-out house for “It’s a Wonderful Life”.
The first-run Christmas attraction at the Lafayette is the Coen brothers film of “True Grit”, which is shaping up as one of the best reviewed American movies of the year.
Yes Bob, we’ll be back in March for another season. We should start getting confirmations on the titles we’re selecting during January.

Not this week. “Waiting for Superman” starts Friday, the 12th. “Harry Potter” starts November 19.

The Lafayette Theatre’s world-famous HORROR-THON returns! November 5-6-7 at the Lafayette Theatre.
The “Horror-Thon” unspools with nine fantastic shows, including Saturday’s four movie salute to Universal Horror and the New York theatrical Premiere on Friday night of the indie horror film “What Really Frightens You?”, which had several scenes filmed at the Lafayette! Tickets are $9 for each movie; Full Festival pass – $70; special Saturday-only “Salute to Universal Horror” pass – $32.

I’m sorry but we hadn’t received the tickets for the Horror-Thon yet, so they weren’t available today. They will be available at the show of “Who Done It?” next week and at the opening night of the Horror-Thon on the 5th.

Perhaps you might be able to help clear up some confusion for me?
While attending today’s showing of “Bridge on the River Kwai”, I thought I’d try to be ahead of the game for once and purchase the 9-show pass ($70.00) for this year’s Horror-Thon.
When I inquired at the box office about making this purchase, the young lady informed me that they had no tickets for this event.
So, I’m wondering, can the Horrorthon pass be purchased in advance or should I take the chance and wait until Nov. 5th? (I really don’t wamt to take the risk and wait until the last minute, if these can be purchased ahead of time.)

Sunday 10/24 @ 11:30am – The Rivertown Film Society’s fall season begins with the Oscar winner for Best Foreign Language Film: “The Secret in Their Eyes”.

I hope I’m not being too much of a “pest”, but if I purchase a Saturday 4-show pass, can this be used for any of the Saturday Big Screen Classics or do I purchase the pass for “specific” films in the series?
Yes, we’ll have advance Horror-Thon tickets available starting October 23: the full 9-show pass will be $70. We’ve had a terrific response to the Saturday lineup that we’ll also be offering a Saturday 4-show pass for $32. Single tickets, available at the box office before each show, are $9.00
Will tickets for the Horror-Than be available in advance?
Can full day ticket packages be purchased or is it just one show at a time?
Just saw the fall schedule……. well worth the wait throughout the summer.
You folks certainly know your horror films ! It’s really great that the programmers at the Lafayette present something for every taste.

Also – the silent classic “Phantom of the Opera” with Lon Chaney will be showing on Saturday night October 30 with LIVE pipe organ accompaniment by Jeff Barker.

The Lafayette is the star of an upcoming film, “White Irish Drinkers”. One of the movie’s main characters is an usher at the theater and works to bring The Rolling Stones to the Lafayette (the film takes place in Brooklyn, so those in the know will have to pretend the Lafayette is in Brooklyn). Many scenes filmed there, both exterior and interior. The theater looked great!
