I would like to see Lisa just to ask about Mark. I sent some theatre pictures to you so by Friday they outta be in the mail. It maybe hard to believe but Iam a diet coke guy. After those wild theatre years from 17 to about 25 I did enough Bud drinking to support St.Louis for years. I can’t place Diane at in my Mind. You and Cathy no problem,Well. Who knows you wouldn’t know me today.Long hair, but Gray, Gave up that silly hair dye. I always looke liked Groucho Marx.

Ok…back where we belong! There was a reason why I wanted to have this one at my house…I have to make sure certain people play nice :) When we first got the idea I was hoping it would get our little group close again. Cathy, Kim and I were roommates in Atlanta…we had a blast, but things ended a little badly for some. We were very close to Diane too…they were all in my wedding . Lisa was my maid of honor …now she hasn’t even returned my calls. We’ll see what happens…should be interesting…Cathy is playing bartender! LOL

Bring whatever you want or nothing at all. Some of the girls are helping out, so it’s ok. I was talking to Cathy the other night…we were both saying that we seem to remember the Atlanta days better than National Hills. You and Bill better be ready to help us remember! We both wish that we had written things down like you did. We just thought we would never forget :(

Yeah, do what Chuck 1231 said. I am so glad someone in Augusta besides Ray Hutto and myself is getting on CT with REAL theatre stories. MALL CORNERS might be on CT,If not I can’t wait to read what you write as others will enjoy too.

Hey Mike…how can you add a theatre that’s not on here? Plitt had another theatre called Mall Corners in Gwinnett County. My husband was a mgr. there in 84-85 — I learned to run projectors there! I think Cathy was an asst. mgr. there later. She also managed Stonemont for a while.

I also worked a few months at GCC GEORGIA SQUARE CINEMAS 1.2.3.4. in Athens.Quitting the business for in the middle 80’s. the year “THE BIG CHILL” came out.I went out with that flick.

Hahahaha….I can’t believe you said that! Well, I think Cathy said the boy ended up being some kind of athlete. I never saw that coming! And what about his wife? She could have been the church lady on SNL!!!

Hey, I hate too be mean,BUT didn’t he have the uglyest kids you ever saw? You might contact Mr.Tinney he’s in the phone book.He came to all our get togethers in the 80’s and i swear had i had your address we would have invited you,Cathy and anyone else. Blame Bill Barkley he could have tracked you all down!

Haha…I always liked Mr. Tinney. We missed him when he left and “DICK” came to town. Well…let’s just say we really pulled one over on him in Atlanta, but I’m going to save that little story for our reunion. I’ll just say that we certainly did not part on the best of terms!

Oh, I have added some history on the MODJESKA if you get a chance. Maybe you have stories your parents told about the Modjeska. It always gave me the creeps even grown up walking over to borrow ice from them when i was pulling extra duty at the IMPERIAL. “Mike Rogers is good we can plug him inanywhere” a Mr,Tinney quote.

Hate to hear that.I forgot the ART theatre.I think it might have been called CINEMA 1 when you were at the IMPERIAL. Bill, gave me a copy of the marquee on closing night; I have it framed. He said you took the picture. Thanks for doing that.

It’s funny how the theatre people seem to stick together. My parents met when they were both working at the Modjeska and I met my husband when we were both working at Phipps. We were married for 21 years then he passed away about four years ago.

I had no idea you guys followed him to Atlanta. I met him a few times and just never connected. Not like Mr.Tinney whom might have been too easy on us. When I moved over to GCC at the mall i met my wife there, she was my box office girl .We stayed married for 15 or 16 years until she went through some change of life or something.
I could always get the concessionstand girls to do the inventory at night and our course a good box office girl can do all at closing,so i had an easy go of it and you were an Assistant it should have been easy for you with a good crew,I put alot more onREGENCY MALL CINEMAS 1.2.3. on CT, plus MASTERS,SOUTHGATE,DANIEL VILLAGE and the MILLER and MODJESKA even though they were GEORGIA THEATRES and we always looked down on them!

Ok Mike…sounds good. BTW…thanks so much for telling me about this site. I have looked up other theatres in Atlanta that I had connections to…Phipps, Stonemont, Promenade, & Twelve Oaks…So much fun! I even found somebody who mentioned coming to my wedding in 1984…trying to find out who it is!! LOL

TISLOEWS. Go to LOEWS CRESCENT. I made a POST!

Mike Rogers
Mike Rogers on February 9, 2010 at 5:29 pm

Robin, When we have our get together I want everyone to list their Favorite Movies so i can put them on like i did with the old crew 1974 to 1979. Tisloews,it might be harder in a large city like Nashville to have a reunion of LOEWS employees. Augusta ia almost too big! I have a feeling you guys would a great time especially if you kept a core group like we did.

Thats cool Mike I saw her posts always good to hear these stories.By the way I have not scene any of my old theatre people in years.By the way I have added some posts to the Loews Crescent and Melrose theatre sites. The Melrose is listed on C.T. just as the Melrose Theatre and not under Loews for some reason.
