stop annoying us, hdtv267. When this theater opened back in April of 2000, the top grossing movie for the summer of that year was X-Men at the Empire since it played only there and not Loews Ewalk.
logged in at 1201 got my tix & seats but transactions never completed—-3x—ended up on mac website cause fandango had 20 min wait
Went to theater to get rogue one tix in person bit box office closing at 1145 so this is a fandango sell only…bummer…i got my TFA tix in person because of fandango crash probability

Any grand opening ads? I remember hearing about this theater via the New York Times 16 years ago. It’s still the largest theater in the NYC area and with the most screens.
Yes Force Awakens sold more tickets than Avatar and lasted longer here until April of this year.
I think the double bill of Fists of Fury and Five Fingers of Death did pretty well back in the day…
Moviebuff82- IMAX has said they’ve started developing a laser system for the smaller screens, though there is no timeframe given for when it would be ready or any guarantee it would be put here early on (Lincoln Square waited two years), so I wouldn’t expect it for a long while.
As for highest grossing movie ever here, I think it would likely be The Force Awakens (#1 domestic film ever unadjusted for inflation, as well as the top adjusted gross since this theater’s been open, and it played to big crowds here well into it’s release) with Avatar probably the only other possible alternative.

What sound systems does every screen have besides the Dolby Atmos at the AMC Prime theater and the 5.1 Imax screen?
I don’t know about specific screens, but other than the IMAX (which is somewhere between a 1.9 and 2.35 aspect ratio) I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole theater was scope. I’ve always seen them move the masking in on the left and right for 1.85 films shown here.

It’s too much. Many years ago, there were more times square cinemas than broadway theaters. Fast forward to today, and broadway is thriving while the box office is dying.
It seems weird (and a little sad) to hear about “both” Times Square theaters…
Of course between them there are 38 screens, but still…:(
Ninja Turtles 2, Warcraft, and likely Now You See Me 2 are joining X-Men’s start and playing in both Times Square theaters, due to many studios dropping clearance requests.
Seems like we might have to say goodbye to Indies as well as having films which played in these theaters much longer than in most theatrical locations, which is what I thought were some of the best things about having so many available screens in the Times Square area (currently Disney, WB, and Sony still believe clearances are ultimately good for the industry and are honoring them, and I hope they continue).
I was only contributing because paramus has the same technology as empire. If simple conversations bother you that much, sorry. I’m just trying to talk about stuff involving this theater and making sure people don’t get ripped off.
Mike, those grand systems were bastardized within years and featured many classic films. Today, they are bastardized within weeks, keep the high prices, and expect the latest hyped super hero stinker to rip off the public for them. Some people seem willing to pay extra to sit in the trunk of a car BEHIND the screen as long as they can tell everyone online that they “saw” the latest.
