The left corner of the entrance is the ticket booth for back stalls,while the right side is for dress circle.The staircase leading to the cafe on the mezzanine floor is in the middle of the lobby and to the right side of the entrance of the back stalls.The canopy above the pavement was added after the war.
The two Chinese characters平安 below Alhambra were the Chinese name of the theatre.The two characters were written from right to left.
After further research,the photographer of this photograph was probably a British soldier stationed in Hong Kong after WWII.
As observed from this historical photograph,the entrance,lobby and the front stalls ticket booth were by the Yee Wo Street[怡和街],while the other side is facing the Victoria Park[typhoon shelter before the typhoon shelter was reclaimed and the Victoria Park was built.]The side facing the Victoria Park is on the left side of the fan-shaped auditorium.
The four Chinese characters as seen in this photograph is the Chinese name of this theatre.The four Chinese characters are read from right to left as opposed to English from left to right.
