John S…Thanks for clearing up when it closed. It did close in 1995 your right. I must have been thinking of the 4 screen in the Colonial Park Mall. That one is now a discount house. Did you ever work at the Twin Union Deposit or the Trans Lux at the Colonial Park Mall?
Dennis…..The Eric twin closed sometime 2003 or 2004. United Artist operated it right up till it closed. Somewhere between when Shapiro had it and United Artist had it Creative Entertainment operated it. Do you remember Creative Entertainment? Creative Entertainment was building an 8 screen complex on the other side of the river in the Mechanicsburg area when it went belly up. AMC finished the project and it became the Amc Hampden 8. If I ever wanted to be by myself and watch a movie in quiet I went to the Eric I&II.
The problem today is we as a society are steeped in MEDIOCRITY. We settle for crap. We don’t strive for excellence anymore. In certain circumstances there is no incentives to do any better.
Now the simulation of the lights dimming…that would be cool. I have seen a picture of the concession area and it is fantastic. Joe Musil designed the interior and what a beautiful job he did.
The Pitt is open 7 days a week with one showing nightly at 7:30pm. I was there back in December 2006. The lobby area smells like gray floor and deck paint…the mens restroom is old and has been painted several times with gray paint.
Simon..I took a look at the FOX POMONA on the website Cinematour.com(more pictures). It’s a beautiful building. I am sure when Joe gets done it’s going to be FANTASTIC!!!!
according to the William Gabels write up. The Loyola had an early form of stadium seating. Any pictures of the auditorium. I would like to see what the early form of stadium seating looked like.
Again James those pictures are GREAT. Now pictures of the lobby and concession would be sweet.
John S…Thanks for sharing and welocme to Cinema Treasures. Hope to hear more from you in the future.

You might also want to try Carmike Cinemas website as well
Does anyone remember a Mr. Pearl that was a manager at the Loew’s State sometime in the 1930’s or 1940’s?
Really cool pictures ken mc. I liked the concession pictures…very stylist.
Anymore up to date news on the Devon?

Thanks Joe. I have seen that type before, and like you said everybody called it the balcony. The Crest in Sacramento Ca. is like that.

Thanks Lost Memory for the information
Correct me if I am wrong. Didn’t Howard Hughes build this theater when he owned RKO studio’s? Or was it another theater he built?
