I originally posted:nonsportsnut on June 7, 2009 at 6:03 pm The Three Stooges Fan Club is trying to document a 1957 personal appearance of Joe Besser, Moe Howard and Larry Fine as The Three Stooges at the Paramount. This would be the only personal appearance by Besser with the Three Stooges. Any documentation, such as a newspaper ad or review would be greatly appreciated. My email address is: Thanks, Frank Reighter

In the Spring 2014 Three Stooges Fan Club Journal, the true story of this is written. The ad never was for a Joe Besser appearance, but was erroneously used for several appearances for the Three Stooges Moe Howard, Larry Fine and (Later to be known as Curly Joe) Joe DeRita in Portland, Oregon, Tacoma and Seattle Washington in December 1959. As far as is known, Joe Besser NEVER made any personal appearances as a member of the Three Stooges.

I’m trying to confirm a personal appearance by the Three Stooges (Moe, Larry and Curly Joe DeRita), along with Officer Joe Bolton, probably in 1959, at the Fabian. A display ad would be helpful, too.

I’m doing research for the Three Stooges Fan Club, on black supporting player Dudley Dickerson. He MAY have been married to Marie Dickerson, who is listed in several Oakland Times articles as a performer at the Premiere in 1933.

Does anyone have any information on her? Thanks. Please email me at:

The Three Stooges Fan Club is trying to get information on a live appearance of Moe, Larry and Shemp (The Three Stooges) the week starting Friday, September, 1944 at the Howard theatre. Others on the bill were Willie Bryant and his all-star band, Shorty Matthews and Beth & Martin “Syncopated Personalities”.
It was billed as “their first and only Washington appearance”. It is of great interest because it may have been their first appearance at a “Black” theatre, and because Shemp had replaced Curly on road appearances.

Please email Frank Reighter at with any info.

I’m a Three Stooges Fan Club member, trying to confirm a personal appearance by the “3” Stooges (Moe Larry and Shemp), on a bill with Wee Bonnie Baker, the Barretts and Don Hooton, after an appearance by the A.B. Marcus Revue. The movie “Queen of Burlesque” was also shown. I have a display ad, but no dates (or town shown). Believe it was the Summer of 1946, and may have been Shemp’s first appearance after Curly’s strokes. The National was advertised as air cooled and showed a phone number of JA-7863.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks Frank Reighter
