Hi Justin the building is still there but you would not think that it was a movie house once I had taken some pictures but lost the film but I will go this weekend and take new pictures with my cell phone.
I remember it for playing Last Tango in Paris for like about a year I believe it stopped playing it when the goverment intervene after some complaints. I might be wrong, but I remember something like that.
If you wanted to see karate movies this was the place to attend. They always played a double feature of Bruce Lee Films among others. Sorry to hear it has closed.
I remember they along with the Plaza’s and UA Cinema 150 use to play the best movies (Blockbusters) that would come to Puerto Rico. Im surprise to hear they have closed but are they demolished? And does anyone know why they closed?
I remember going to this theater when I went to Puerto Rico. They use to run a different movie everyday except on sunday and monday when they would play the newest movies of course about 8 or 9 months after it had open else where. It also had a marquee which I see is missing. don’t know how many it seated but it was pretty big.
Remember this movie house it use to play spanish double features then it suddenly closed didn’t know why till now. The building is still there and it has become a spanish pentecostal church now. I believe to have some pictures will post soon.
Went in Puerto Rico for vacation I never had the chance to attend this theater but I do remember it because it always ran the best movies of those times sorry to hear is closed.
As far as I can remember they where not old, I believe they open sometime in the early 70’s that’s why I was surprise to hear they had been demolished.
Does anybody remember the program flyers that the Teatro Caribe use to advertise? I wish I could come across one of them.
The Elwood Theater was at the corner of Broadway and Elwood Ave.
Promo from when Teatro Caribe (Cameo from Elizabeth Ave.) moved to the Elwood and renamed “New Caribe Elwood”
What does this picture have to do with the New Delancey Theater?
According to the ads I just uploaded the address number is not 83 but 81.
I remember el Matienzo of the 70’s only playing Spanish movies.
Actually the Elwood Theater was located at the corner of Elwood and Broadway which once you would cross into Belleville it becomes Washington.
Here’s is where the Elwood Theater once stand now as you can see is a White Castle look at the image View link
TC is that a flyer and where did you found it? also is it possible to have it bigger? Thanks!

Just past by where the building once stood and the building right next to it has 565 so im sure it can’t be 164.
Edit:
Want to correct this it is actually 656, so yes 642 would be the correct address.

I believe it was once, then it was put up for sale and a spanish congregation bought it.
