They opened when the owmer thought it was viable. It wasn’t.
What, they reopened just for the summer?

The owner tried to collect damages incurred due to closing for the pandemic from his insurance company but was denied by the courts. This may set a precedence for future suits.
They are still closed and the phone has been disconnected. Also, the shopping center has a new owner. Doesn’t look good.
Despite the go ahead from Governor Cuomo to reopen Long Island theatres, albeit with major restrictions, the owner of the Soundview said he will delay the opening indefinitely because the product just isn’t there. He said it would cost him more to open than remain closed.
I just heard from someone in the cab ride home that the theater may be closing. I hope not.

In the day themes were all the rage. In the era of multiplexes it’s a series of boxes for about 20 years until they tear them down. It’s all part of the leasing rather than building ones own.
The only other theaters with a theme moniff are the Movico/Cinemark24 in Maryland (Egyptain), and Westbrook 12 in Westbrook CT (Sci-Fi).Im sure there’s more. The Soundview is a good anternitive to the mega multiplexes

Isn’t Falaise in the area? Perhaps they’re trying to pay homage to that.
Went to the film “The Big Wedding” (terrible movie) at the grand reopening of theater today. $9 matinees, $12 at night. Theater was still putting new floor in and castle like images around movie posters for uupcoming films. Theater is wild, they have done a medieval motif or design if you wall. The walls have wallpaper like a stone castle wall and all the theaters are designed as if you’re entering a castle. The seats I presume are all new (can’t remember the old ones) all have cup holders and they’re cushioned. There are statues of Knights standing around and a dragon also. The bathrooms I kid not have toilet paper holders that are actually knight figurines holding the toilet paper for you. The faucets at the sinks are shaped like dragons. They also sell french fries at the concession stand and sell about 10 different sodas including Cherry Pepsi and Dr. Pepper. Sadly only 7 people at “The Big Wedding” 12:30 PM performance.
It’s reopening on schedule. They have a lineup on Fandango. Friday they reopen with new films “The Big Wedding” and “Pain & Gain” and oldies “Evil Dead”, “Admission”, “Olympus Has Fallen”, “Spring Breakers” and “Oz, the Great and Powerful”.
So it’s finally coming, April 26 you say.

It’s August now and as we drove by there today nothing is happening, it’s just deserted.

The Port Washington is a rental property? I remember when Clearview bought the property under the Roslyn. I presumed they owned the handful of free standing theatres they operated on Long Island.
