JOE GOODE had changed the name to CINEMA ONE during the KUng-FU era.Playing “ENTER THE DRAGON” and “TRIPLE IRONS” wonder what the “Dragon” print looked like.

Well, I dealt with Kenny Rogers in Athens,He had a big horse farm there,It is onGEORGIA SQUARE CINEMAS GCC on CT,but you have read it. He never wanted in free,And really in Augusta I don’t remember JAMES BROWN ever asking to come in for free. If I spotted him in line i would quietly escort him in and he got such a big kick out of. I guess you got to do some small talk, but I am sure most locals left them alone.

Mike in reply of you comment Mar 20,2010 no I never let them in free, for one, they never asked, Waylon Jennings and his wife Jessi would come to the Loews Crescent always about 20 minutes after the show started, they would just buy their tickets never stopped at the conncessions sometimes they left before the movie ended I think they were just killing time till they had to be somewhere else,no body seemed to even notice them.Johnny Cash was the smae way he came to the Loews Madison on Saturdays with his kids when he was in town nobody even bothered him but thats Nashville,Hoyt Akston was cool too he did not mind paying full price for a cup of ice must have had his own stash.Just came in a watched the movie like anyone else.

During the mid 70’s Joe Goode does change the name to Cinema One and plays only Kung-Fu movies until he closes for good in the 80’s.

I have seen the CHARLIE DANIELS spot.He is a nice guy. He fed me and about 20 other stagehands steaks years ago when he played here. I see some of your comments,in fact i usually track down what you and Nick, and Robin are writing. I am trying to get her to read Nick’s stuff.

Tlsloews, boy you are adding Theatres up like crazy. I think for awhile I might have been ahead of you,but now you have shot pass me,which is good,I would rather read a theatre managers writings than someone that never popped a trashbag full of popcorn.

This place was really a nice little theatre you walked downstairs like a big basement.Seated about 100 or less.Saw 2 Bruce Lee films there when the named was changed to Cinema 1. As the Art theatre it was surrounded by strip clubs until the city cleaned up lower Broad Street.

Joe Good, a man that had a dream to open a theatre that would play many of the pictures that never would have hit an Augusta movie screen died Dec. 3 2009 at the VA HOSPITAL here in Augusta. Joe was a veteran of World war 2. Fought in the Battle of the Bulge, got two Purple Hearts and was a P.O.W. until the Russians freed him.

Never understood how you got some the movies you did to the ART theatre and later joining the Kung-Fu craze with CINEMA 1. Thanks Joe Good.
