Airvue Drive-In

The Airvue Drive-In opened its doors on May 15, 1951 with Kathryn Grayson in “That Midnight Kiss”. It was first operated by S.W. Anderson and was located on U.S. 49 which was formerly known as Highway 20.

The Airvue Drive-In closed for the final time on May 16, 1966 with Alan Batch in “Nothing But The Best” and Burt Lancaster in “The Train”. The closure came a few days right after the opening of the Dixie Drive-In (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures).

After its closure, the former Airvue Drive-In officially became a special events center for around a decade which hosted multiple events in the area.

A Delta Inn resort now occupies the former drive-in.

Correction: The Airvue Drive-In opened its gates on May 15, 1951 with Kathryn Grayson in “That Midnight Kiss” with no extra short subjects, not March 13, 1952. This replaced the 4th Street Drive-In which closed a month prior.

March 13, 1952 is the Airvue’s start of its second year of operation.
