State Theatre

The Lake Theatre was opened by 1939. It had been renamed State Theatre by 1940. It was carved out of space in existing building an included an angled floor.

In 1954 a quick renovation was done to provide the capability of showing CinemaScope films. A special projection room was built in an upper loft section above the front of the building.

I have uploaded a 1941 image of the theatre, a 1952 ad and an article about a new, 650 seat, twin cinema which was to be built for a Spring 1973 opening which never happened.
