E.B. Bugher appears to have opened the New Wonderland Theatre late in 1912. The theatre operated during the town’s first boom period going from fewer than 300 residents at the turn of the century to nearly quadruple that size at around 1,200 residents by 1920.
The Wonderland Theatre expanded from 150 to 225 seats in the 1920’s. The operation had a revolving door of operators throughout its existence closing for brief periods with Bugher - who also operated the Dreamland Theatre’s in Sallisaw and in Muldrow - coming back to operate it. The theatre converted to sound in 1931 and appears to have ceased operations in December of 1933. The town was next serviced by the Joy Theatre.
