Wallenstein Theatre

Former Air Force Base theatre built in the late-1950’s. Closed by June 30, 1966 when the Air Force Base was closed. Re-opened in 1969 when Big Bend Community College took over much of the former base as it’s campus. The theatre is used for occasional performances by various performing arts groups as well as college lectures and meetings and is now known as the Wallenstein Theatre.

In late-2021 the theatre is closed for renovation and is planned to reopen in 2022.

Named by BBCC (Big Bend Community College) the Wallenstein Theatre after a former president. Current photo uploaded.

The State of Washington (owner) is presently doing a minor remodel to the theater. Fire safety system upgrades, electrical upgrades, and a badly needed new roof. Theater is set to reopen in Spring of 2022. I’ll get some pictures of the interior when it does. Columbia Basin Allied Arts is the local non-profit that books most events in the venue.
