Beggar's Theatre

Located in Millom, Cumbria. The Electric Picture Palace was a conversion of the Victorian County Hall, and opened in early-June 1911. By September 1911 it was known as the Electric Palace. By August 1914 it had been re-named Palace Cinema and was operated by William Williams. It was still open in 1929, but had closed by 1931, so possibly was never equipped for ‘talkies’. It was converted into the Palace Ballroom.

Since 2009 it has operated as a 245-seat performing arts theatre named the Beggar’s Theatre. It is also available to screen films as the Beggar’s Film Club.
