Located in the valley town of Ogmore Vale, Glamorgan. The Olympia Cinema was opened 1914/1915. It was equipped with CinemaScope in the mid-1950’s and had a 25 feet wide screen.
The Olympia Cinema was listed as ‘temporarily closed’ in 1963, and never re-opened. By that time it was owned by the Workmen’s Hall & Institute. It became a bingo club for a while. The building was destroyed by a fire, but part of the façade remains today.

This cinema was opened c.1914/1915 and was located on High Street, Ogmore Vale which is not in the Maesteg Valley which is two valleys over and the map pin is showing it in the Garw Valley, which is in the next valley.
It was also a bingo hall last going off before it was shut, when it was burned down and demolished, though half of the facade is still visible.
The original organist, Dag Pryor was awarded the military Medal during World War One and Capt Fred Barter VC, his brother in law visited during World War One😀
We have other images if you want copies?
