Located on Spitalska, not far from the city centre of Bratislava. Kino Lumiere is a two-screen art house cinema with 296 seats in each screen, and is owned and managed by the National Slovak Film Institute. The Lumiere was originally opened as the Cinema Center Charlie (commonly known in Bratislava as ‘Charlie’s’). It re-opened after major refurbishment works on 5th September 2011, and now offers domestic and International films (with original language and subtitles), with some rarities and true gems. It is connected with International film festival networks, often in collaboration with Mladost Kino, which has its own page on Cinema Treasures. It is also part of the Europa Cinemas network.

Cinema ticket prices (in 2012) go from the standard Euro 4.00 to Euro 2.00 for children, with some open screening that give free access. The two screens are located on the ground floor. There is extra underground space, which was used as a popular pub when Charlie’s was open, but currently this entire level is closed. Cinema Lumiere has become a reference point and a meeting place for lovers of art films and for cinema insiders who like the retro atmosphere and original film programming offered at this venue.
