Albany, Georgia was served with its first twin cinema, the Martin Twin Theatre. On October 15, 1973 they were playing to full houses the G-rated but scary."Legend of Boggy Creek" and in Martin Twin 2 "Cahill". May 3 1975 the Martin Twin was showing "Brannigan" and in Cinema 2 "The Towering Inferno". By the late-1970’s another two twin theatres were built in Albany. The Martin Twin was playing on January 2, 1977 "King Kong" and the third big week "Pink Panther Strikes Again". Owned by Martin Theatres up the road in Columbus, Georgia. The Carmike 8 was closed on August 10, 2000.

I think it would become four screens.
The MARTIN FOUR was playing on Feb.18 1980 these films. “MIDNIGHT MADNESS”,“LAST MARRIED COUPLE”,“HERO AT LARGE” and “SATURN 3”.
Even in 1980 “SONG OF THE SOUTH” is playing at the Martin Four in Albany.Dec.4 1980.Thought it was pulled from release way before the eighties!
Hello Mike! Are you still there I’m researching a novel set in 2012 Albany, G and need to know what year this theater closed and the Carmike 16 opened? Can you help with that? Thanks!…or anyone else?
The center portion of this house looks a lot like the old Georgia Cinerama, I suspect that was the original twin portion. I doubt anybody built more theaters using the same basic plans as Martin did!
