Super 87 Drive-In

This drive-in was opened June 24, 1964 with Patrick McGoohan in Walt Disney’s “The Three Lives of Thomasina” & Richard Conte in “The Eyes of Annie Jones”. It operated into the late-1980’s, and was owned by Theatre Management Corp. It had place advertisements in the Montreal newspapers in English and in French with a Montreal phone #.

Drive-ins in the Plattsburgh and Champlain area were very popular to the people north of the border since drive-ins were banned in Quebec 1947-1970. There is a French song by Chantal Renaud called Plattsburgh Drive-In Blues, which can be found on youtube.

You may be wondering why this ad in the photo section is in French? It came from La Presse in Montreal.

Opened with “I am Thomasina” and “The eyes of Annie Jones”. Closed in 1986. The site is now Clinton County Sherrifs Department and Jail.
