The Texan Theater was opened on August 11, 1933 with Edward G. Robinson in “Silver Dollar”. Currently the only available information about the Texan Theater comes from 1935 and 1939 photographs shown on the Oklahoma Historical Society web site. These vintage images make it clear that the only purpose of this small cinema was to present motion picture entertainment at low admission prices, with no pretense of glamour.

It was listed as operating in the 1941, 1943, and 1945 editions of Film Daily Yearbook. It was closed in 1947 and converted into a department store.

The June 10, 1933, issue of the Lubbock Morning Avalanch said that Gates Corgan, architect for the Griffith Amusement Company, would arrive in town the following day to oversee the remodeling of the building at 813 Broadway into a movie theater.
