This large single screen theatre, which was located across the street from the Belden Village Mall and adjacent to the Imperial House Motel, looked like a medieval castle on the outside. I was in there at least twice, I do recall the theatre having a huge screen. The theatre was also visible from I-77.
The Imperial Theatre opened on November 15, 1973 with Kate Jackson in “Women in Limbo”. On April 12, 1985 it was renamed the Parke Cinema (after the renamed Parke Hotel next door; whether the hotel owned the cinema I don’t know offhand.) The Parke Cinema closed on December 1, 1992. It was demolished to make way for a strip center…I think the Parke Hotel next door was torn down as well.
