The Crystal Theatre was one of Nashville’s first motion picture theatres when it opened in 1907. Around the time that the Rex Theatre and 5th Avenue Theatre were opening up the street. It was renamed Rialto Theatre November 4, 1918 and was closed December 9, 1926. Unfortunately nothing remains of the six theatres that once dominated 5th Avenue.

Another theatre that got swallowed whole by the huge footprint of the Amsouth Center.

According to Bowers' “Encyclopedia of Automatic Musical Instruments” page 551, the Rialto had a Reproduco organ made by the Operators Piano Co.

The Rialto in Nashville is listed twice; either a misprint or there were TWO of them at the same time?

I read on another site that this theatre operated from 1920-1928.

Launched as the Crystal Theatre in 1907, the theatre closed briefly in October of 1918 for a refurbishing. It reopened as the Rialto Theatre on November 4, 1918 with “Crashing Through.” Ads conclude December 9, 1926 with Buck Jones' “Buckaroo Kid.”
