The Regal theater opened in 1914 as the Muse-Us theater. Rewiring the Muse-Us Theater for sound proved too costly, and it eventually closed its doors in 1931. The Muse-Us Theater remained closed for almost a decade. On December 4, 1940 it was renamed Regal Theater.

In the 1950’s the Regal Theater, like so many smaller neighborhood theaters in those days struggled to remain open. It is listed as a Negro theater from 1949 through to 1955. By 1960, the Regal theater closed for good.
