Tickets Sales Drop in 2003

Boxoffice ticket sales last year dropped for the first time since 1991, according to a report by tracking firm Exhibitor Relations. During the 2003 season, ticket sales totaled $9.27 billion, compared to $9.32 billion in 2002, a 0.5 percent drop.
The drop is being blamed on several factors: an unusually steep decline in attendance — at nearly 5 percent, a modest rise in ticket prices — the average ticket price was $6.03, up 18 cents from 2002, and weak product — many summer blockbusters fizzled at the box office.

Definitely those high ticket prices, I mean come on around here the prices are $8. If you double that price you could get a DVD. I also think more people would rather stay in their homes in this generation, they know they can just wait and rent the DVD.
