My Dad who was born in 1927 told me about this theatre/The Parkway and he also stated there was a dance hall on the same side of the street right before the theatre. He didn’t remember the name of the dance hall. Does anyone out there remember the dance hall & its name. I just loved Roseland & it was a fluke that I ended up there during my formative years as my Mother died so I lived there w/my Grand-mother from 1965-72. The Roseland Theatre played monster movies on Saturdays when I was a kid & by the time I was a teen-ager The State Theatre had The Battle of the Bands. Of course we saw many a movie at these theatres too, but remember we walked out of The Roseland as young teen-agers if the movie was too long like Gone With the Wind. There was something about that neighborhood that made it so magical. I’m a St. Willibrord’s High School graduate.
