Mansfield Cinema 117 High Street, Mansfield, VIC - Closed 2007

Remember ‘When…

The Star Cinema, located where Foodworks now stands, was built in 1937 and originally called The Regent Theatre. It seated 500 people, with 388 in the stalls and 112 in the balcony. The first movie ever shown was ‘Jungle Princess’ with Cary Grant and Dorothy Lamour.

The Theatre was renamed to The Star Theatre in 1949. On 20 March 1982 the Star hosted the world premiere of ‘The Man From Snowy River’, and the fanfare and red carpet was repeated on 19 March 1988 for the premiere of ‘The Man From Snowy River II’.

In 1995 it was renamed Mansfield Cinema.
The Mansfield Cinema officially closed in May 2007.
